Year: 2013
PROJECT AWARD FINALIST
Client: Villa Adriana
Location: Rome Tivoli
Type: Contest
The complexity of the composition of Villa Adriana, still under research, leads us to use design techniques antithetical, scoring in respect and distance.
Instead to use articulated axial or visual relationships to connect the parts, are used simple elements lay at random. Instead of the powerful consistency massive, the are used lightness and transparency elements. Even the relationship with water has been overturned: instead of being contained it in defined forms, it is to include the buildings.
A Wide deep square pool 10 cm only welcomes the Culture Pavilion. In order to mitigate the impact of the new building, we proceed to a fragmentation of the cubic volume required.

The complexity of the composition of Villa Adriana, still under research, leads us to use design techniques antithetical, scoring in diversity respect and distance due to a monument of such importance.
Instead articulated axial or visual relationships to connect the parts, the elemental simplicity of the case. Instead of the powerful consistency massive, the lightness and transparency of its transition. Reversal also in relationship with water: instead of being contained in defined forms, here is it to blow the buildings.
Wide deep square pool 10 cm only, to feed the aquifer to Pantanello, welcomes the Culture Pavilion. In order to mitigate the impact of the new building of the surrounding archaeological remains, we proceed to a fragmentation of the cubic volume required.
